Wednesday was "Donuts for Grown Ups" at Kennedy Elementary. Lots of students, lots of parents and families, and lots of WHS Leadership students on hand as well, all present for the early morning gathering. An assembly followed the event, WHS Leadership Students Dominic Shore and Natalie Henning talked to the children about responsibility. Students of the Month for October were announced - we'll have those for you, along with the other schools' honorees in early November!!
Mrs. Jennifer Wilmoth's 4th Grade Class at Kennedy Elementary has been part of a "Flat Stanley Adventure" recently, an adventure that began as a Flat Stanley project for the young Cardinals at Kennedy. But first, for those of you who may not be acquainted with "Flat Stanley", read this background info and then I'll share an exciting development with one of Kennedy's students and the adventure she created for her Flat Stanley.
The Kennedy 1st-2nd Grade Vocal Music Concert was held Monday evening at WHS with a large audience in attendance for the musical affair directed by Mrs. Linda Ballard. Alone and together, the 2 grades of Cardinals sang a total of 9 pieces, all written or arranged by Teresa Jennings, Paul Jennings and John Riggio. From"Wiggleworm/Statue" to "Follow the Rainbow" to "Music Makes Me Sing", the young group put on a great show. Enjoy the video!
The students and staff at Kennedy Elementary finished up their OLYMPIC events on Monday...Bobsled, Skating, Bingo, Snowball Throw, Moguls Skiing and more! Check out the competition pics - I think we may have some future OLYMPIANS in our midst!! :)
The students and staff at Kennedy Elementary, many of whom have been watching the Winter Olympics in South Korea on television, have created their own Olympics and opening ceremonies were held Wednesday after a 1 day weather delay. Olympic activities and events will continue on Monday (2/26).
The Kennedy Elementary 3rd and 4th graders performed their Christmas program Tuesday evening at WHS in front of a nice-sized crowd of parents and friends. The Cardinals were under the choral direction of Mrs. Linda Ballard.
The young group sang many selections including "Christmas Bells Are Ringing, Ringing", "Blitzen Boogie", "What's In The Stocking", "We Wish You A Merry Christmas" and others.
Mrs. Melissa Buchanan's Web Design and Entrepreneurship classes at WHS, were recently assisting students from Kennedy Elementary with the "HOUR OF CODE" project as part of Computer Science Education Week! Read below for more info! (or click HERE)
Congratulations to Kennedy Elementary Principal Stephanie Smith who was presented just this week, the "General Education Administrator of the Year" award by the Kansas Association of Special Education Administrators, at their conference in Wichita at the Hyatt Regency on July 26th.

The Community Connections class at WHS, (instructed by Mrs. Karla Lawless), held a fundraiser recently and with the proceeds purchased PUMPKINS to carve and share with students at Kennedy Elementary just down ole Crusader Road.
Kennedy students participated in a day of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art,, and Mathematics) activities on Monday 10/9/17. They went through 12 different stations and improved their teamwork while learning new skills.
A couple dozen Kennedy Cardinals were rewarded in a big way Friday for improving their scores recently during MAPS TESTING! Principal Stephanie Smith, donned in plastic head and body gear, withstood pie after pie after pie to the face as smiles and laughter filled the school just prior to dismissal for the weekend. Kudos to Mrs. Smith for being such a great sport - and kudos to the kids for their improvements with their testing!
The KENNEDY COMMONS was rockin' Friday afternoon - it was the students vs the staff in volleyball and IT WAS LOUD!! :) Numerous "student" squads challenged the STAFF, an overall tally was not kept. Lots of smiles, lots of fun - great way to head into the weekend after a hard week of studies! GO CARDINALS!!
