USD 353 CONVOCATION - The "Dream Team" Shares!

Wednesday was the first day back for the USD 353 Teachers. A breakfast followed by the Convocation took place in the WHS Auditorium. A "Dream Team" made up of both retired USD 353 teachers as well as a seasoned one or two "still on staff" members, presented their individual views about teaching, about kids, about public education, etc. Very enlightening and inspirational to hear from each one. The Crusader Band performed as well as this summers' Kansas Roadmap Reading Campers, who sang "their" song for all in attendance.

USD 353 Enrollment Continues @ Individual Schools

UPDATE: District-wide enrollment at WHS has concluded. Enrollment continues at the individual schools as Day 1 approaches! (Aug. 22nd!) :)

USD 353 District-Wide enrollment commenced on Tuesday
at Wellington High School for all Wellington schools. Doors were open from 9AM - 1PM and then again from 5PM - 8PM. Enrollment is on slate at WHS on Wednesday as well, doors will be open from 9AM - 1PM.

Patrons can pick up their Casino Reward Cards as well through 1PM on Wednesday.

USD 353 Administrators Convene For First 2017-2018 Admin Meeting

With the official start of the 2017-2018 school year just a few short weeks away for the students here in Wellington, the USD 353 Administrators met together on Wednesday for their first admin meeting of this fiscal school year...pictured are:

KRR Summer Campers Take Field Trip To TANGANYIKA!

Check out the PHOTOS from Week 1 of KRR Summer Camp Journey being held at Kennedy Elementary. There are about 100 students from Kennedy, Lincoln, and Washington who are doing activities in reading, math. science, robotics, community service projects, team building and field trips. The group went to Tanganyika on Friday. Students also eat breakfast, and lunch during the program.

Teaching Excellence and Longevity Awards Presented!

At the 2016-2017 Employee Appreciation Program at WHS Wednesday morning, numerous USD 353 personnel were recognized for their years of service and "11" employees of the district were bid a fond farewell as they are retiring. The EXCELLENCE IN TEACHING AWARD for this school year was also announced by the USD 353 Foundation. Out of approx. 30 nominations, the honor went to WHS Instructor Karla Defore! Congratulations Mrs. Defore!! Karla has taught in the district since 2006!

Top KSDE Officials Visit USD 353

The Kansas State Department of Education Commissioner, Randy Watson, accompanied by District #10 State BOE member Jim McNiece who also is presently serving as Chairman of the State Board of Education, visited Wellington and the Wellington School District on Friday. At WHS, Mr. Watson and Mr. McNiece ate lunch with students, exchanging ideas, answering questions, etc.
